We’re always looking for people to help make Shared Counts even better.
Our GitHub repo is where most of the action happens. Here are a few ways you can contribute:
Ask a question / troubleshoot an issue
The Shared Counts support forum is the best place to ask questions or describe issues you are having. We’ll try to respond to your question within a few days.
If you’re a developer and want to help us out, we really appreciate help answering questions in the support forums. When viewing the support forum, you can click the “Subscribe to this plugin” button to receive emails about recent posts.
File a bug report
If you find a legitimate bug, please submit a bug report in the Shared Counts Issues area on GitHub. First check to make sure the issue hasn’t already been reported. If it has, adding a comment with additional information is very helpful.
Click the “New Issue” button, then describe the issue in as much detail as possible. If it’s a frontend issue, make sure you include your browser and OS (copy the Browser Details section from Support Ally). If it’s a backend issue, include your version of WordPress, PHP, and any other relevant details.
If you’re not sure if your issue should be a support request or a bug report, post it first in the support forum. As we help you with the issue, if we find that it’s a bug in Shared Counts, we’ll create the GitHub issue for you.
Feature contribution
Do you have a great idea for how we can improve Shared Counts? Post it in the Shared Counts Issues section on GitHub and label it as an enhancement.
You can also browse the enhancements label to see upcoming improvements we plan to make.
If you would like to make a change to the codebase (feature or bug fix), create a GitHub issue first and link your pull request to it. We also recommend reviewing the Contribution Guide for information on compiling CSS/JS.
